Endurance, a 62 ft cutter rig, was custom designed by Robert Perry who is known for his expertise in offshore cruising yachts. After being built in England in 1988 she simply ‘disappeared’ – an unusual occurrence for a boat of this pedigree!
Then Bud Paine ‘found’ her. Seeing the beauty under years of neglect, he bought her in 2004 and has had the "endurance" to bring her back to her former glory. With her restoration almost complete, Endurance is scheduled to splash in May 2008.
According to Mr. Paine, “I needed a team to do the whole boat, design all the systems, spec it out and install it — soup to nuts. Steve really kept the project moving forward and was always very receptive to my suggestions and accommodating to my requests. I am very particular and wanted things to be just so. They always consulted with me to ensure I got exactly what I wanted and I always did!”
